Does A Professionally Written Resume Make You More Hirable

A professionally written resume is guaranteed to increase your chances of getting hired by a big percentage. It can also make sure that you get paid for what you are worth. We are not just saying this because we are a professional resume writing service. This is the conclusion drawn from our 2022 survey of 1000 recruiters and candidates.

If you’ve been harboring doubts about clicking “Pay” on an online resume writing site, now you can go on and do it with a clear head. Our results showed us that not only are recruiters more willing to hire candidates with professionally written resumes, but they also consider paying a higher salary for employees who turn up with a professionally written resume.

We know that you don’t have the time to go through all the 5 pages of interesting results we got, so we summarized it all under a few well-thought-out headings:

A professionally written resume will get you hired faster

We got the participation of 500 job seekers from diverse industries, experience levels, and educational backgrounds to inquire about the time they spent on the job search. As we anticipated, the applicants who used a professionally written resume were seen to get hired at a rate of 30% above those who went in with their own resumes, within the last year.

We also found out that the job seekers who applied for positions with self-written resumes during the same period have not had much success. In fact, only 10% of the candidates with self-written resumes were able to get hired during that time.

To our delight, we were also able to identify that 60% of the job seekers who had their resumes written by Resume Mansion’s experts got hired last year, without much of a hassle on the job market.

Recruiters feel more compelled to pay a higher salary when they see a professionally written resume

We sourced 500 employers from various locations in the US for the next step of our survey. Our research team made sure to diversify the pool by including recruiters who have been acquiring talent for 15+ years as well as recent additions to the workforce. The set of employers consisted of participants from multiple industries and backgrounds.

We allowed the recruiters to review several resume samples from entry-level to c-level without specifying which resumes were self-written and which were professionally written. Then, we asked them to name a figure for the salary of each employee.

85% of the hiring managers and recruiters had stated a higher salary for the applicants with professionally written resumes.

We found the major reasons behind the recruiters’ preference for candidates with professionally written resumes

90% of the recruiters stated on the survey that they prefer to receive results-driven resumes. Almost every professionally written resume had been able to deliver on that. However, only around 15% of the self-written resumes were starred as “results-driven” by the recruiters.

95% of the employers we considered were impressed by the tone of the professionally written resumes. Some self-written resumes we asked them to review were described as “lacking confidence.”

Self-written resumes had 20% more errors and mistakes than professionally written resumes when reviewed by the recruiters.

95% of the professionally written resumes were marked as “Showing career progression” while only 13% of the self-written resumes were marked so.
